Description

The Matrix Audio TS-1 integrates three audio functions in a single compact package: a network streamer, a digital-to-analog converter and a headphone amplifier.
It draws on Matrix Audio’s M series to offer a combined solution for users looking for simplified configuration.
The TS-1 aims to meet the needs of audiophiles and users wishing to centralize their listening system, whatever their usage scenarios.

Technical architecture and sound innovation
The TS-1 core is based on a fully symmetrical architecture using two AK4493SEQ chips configured in parallel for each channel. This approach guarantees optimum signal separation and a significant reduction in distortion. Each converter has its own ultra-low-noise power supply circuit, fed by dedicated dual-channel LDO regulators.
The clock is a crucial element of this architecture. The TS-1 incorporates two separate femtosecond clocks, each optimized for 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling frequencies and their multiples. These clocks benefit from an independent linear power supply and intelligent control via FPGA, ensuring perfect synchronization of digital signals.
The physical separation of digital and analog circuits on separate boards eliminates potential interference, preserving the purity of the audio signal. This technical approach, inherited from Matrix Audio’s high-end products, guarantees audiophile-level performance in a compact format.

Versatility and universal connectivity
The TS-1 stands out for its ability to centralize all modern audio sources thanks to its five input interfaces: optical, coaxial, USB Audio, HDMI ARC and analog RCA input. This configuration makes it possible to integrate a traditional vinyl system as well as a modern streaming setup, via a home theater installation.
Network connectivity is based on a dual standard: Gigabit Ethernet for a stable wired connection and dual-band Wi-Fi for flexible installation. The TS-1 supports all major streaming protocols: Roon, AirPlay 2, DLNA/UPNP, TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect, offering native compatibility with iOS and Android ecosystems.
The integration of an NVMe M.2 SSD slot turns the TS-1 into a stand-alone network server. This feature allows you to store and distribute a local music collection while benefiting from cloud streaming capabilities. Integrated SMB sharing makes it easy to access files from other devices on the home network.

Intuitive control and software ecosystem
The TS-1 user interface is built around the MA Player OS system, a constantly evolving software platform that guarantees the addition of new features via regular updates. The integrated touchscreen offers direct control, complemented by the MA Remote app available on iOS and Android.
This mobile application transforms the smartphone into a universal remote control, allowing you to browse music libraries, adjust audio parameters and switch between input sources. The graphical interface follows the ergonomic codes developed for the M series, guaranteeing intuitive handling even for novice users.
The supplied infrared remote control provides a convenient alternative for quick adjustments, particularly appreciated in a relaxed listening context where smartphone access is not desirable.

Audio performance and output versatility
The TS-1’s outputs cover all contemporary audiophile needs. Balanced XLR line outputs deliver a signal-to-noise ratio of 123 dB with less than 0.00018% distortion, while unbalanced RCA outputs reach 120 dB with less than 0.00020% distortion. This dual configuration optimizes compatibility with different types of active loudspeakers.
The integrated headphone amplifier features two outputs: 4.4 mm balanced and 6.35 mm unbalanced, each capable of delivering over 1 watt at 33 ohms. This generous power ensures wide compatibility, from high-impedance headphones to demanding planar models. The particularly low output impedance (less than 2 ohms) preserves control and dynamics even with the most sensitive headphones.
The dedicated subwoofer output, with its 150 Hz low-pass filtering, simplifies integration into a 2.1 system without the need for additional electronics. Synchronized volume control maintains tonal balance during level adjustments.

System integration and scalability
The TS-1 incorporates advanced system integration features via its trigger inputs and outputs. These connections enable automation with other equipment such as power amplifiers, creating an intelligent audio system capable of coordinated switching on and off.
Priority 12V external power input opens the way to the use of external linear power supplies for audiophiles seeking ultimate perfection. This modular approach makes it possible to gradually improve performance without replacing the main unit.
Native compatibility with Roon transforms the TS-1 into an audiophile-quality endpoint, benefiting from the most advanced music management ecosystem on the market. This integration facilitates music discovery and the management of large collections.
