Description

MATRIX MP-1 Balanced preamplifier

The Matrix MP-1preamplifier is part of the brand’s new M series, complemented by the MS-1 streamer streamer and MA-1 power amplifier.
The new range features a new design, both in terms of appearance and internal structure.
In fact, the MP-1 class A preamplifier features a fully symmetrical structure, allowing both channels to be processed independently.
This preamplifier is the key point of the M series.
Thanks to its signal-processing mode, it delivers rich tones and detailed sound reproduction.
The MP-1’s amplifier stage essentially consists of four independent transistors working in concert.
This preamplifier features numerous analog inputs: 3 balanced XLR stereo inputs and 3 RCA stereo inputs.
Outputs include two balanced XLR outputs and one RCA output.
The front panel features numerous controls and a display for a pleasant user experience.

Matrix MP-1: a symmetrical amplifier stage
The MP-1’s symmetrical architecture offers extremely low noise and excellent linearity.
Its output stage is designed as a pure Class A amplifier, i.e. it allows high bias current while maintaining low crossover distortion.
The MP-1 is therefore able to guarantee a wide frequency response and dynamic range for sound reproduction as close as possible to the original audio file.
Matrix MP-1: precise volume control
Within the MP-1 preamplifier are four networks of 64 resistors for precise volume control.
32 fully sealed reed relays complete the set.
This volume control system minimizes any negative impact on sound quality and ensures excellent consistency between the two channels.
Relay operating noise is virtually inaudible for smooth, unobtrusive noise management.

Matrix MP-1: a high-performance power stage
The MP-1’s power supply stage is made up of two 60W toroidal transformers powering each preamplifier board separately.
Filter capacitors from Mundorf’s M-Lytic AG series then ensure a reliable, constant current.
The special feature of the transformers chosen by Matrix is that they feature square copper wires for increased conductive surface area, higher current capacity and lower resistance.
Matrix MP-1: versatile operating modes
One of the advantages of the MP-1 is the ability to independently set attenuation and volume compensation for each input.
In addition, the XLR outputs can be operated simultaneously or separately.
In the case of separate output, each output volume is individually adjusted for best results when using multiple amplifiers and speakers.
If you use both XLR outputs simultaneously, you can easily set up a bi-amplification system.
