iFi Audio – DC iPurifier 2

Description

In February 2016, iFi Audio released the DC iPurifier, to combat the hiss and distortion created by the power supplies of electronic devices, and coming to disrupt listening.

True to its tradition, iFi optimizes its creations as much as possible, and sometimes offers a revised version of its devices and accessories.

Introducing the DC iPurifier2, offering an improvement on the technology previously included in the DC iPurifier, plus a few new features…

ANC, Active Noise Cancellation

In this new version of the DC iPurifier2, the acclaimed and award-winning ANC technology (inspired by military radar defense systems, more specifically the Rafale and its Spectra from Thalès) has been optimized.

It reproduces the operation of a military defense radar, identifying the frequencies that cause noise, then creates a perfectly identical noise but at the opposite frequencies. This opposition actively suppresses all noise detected and analyzed by the DC iPurifier2.

Simply insert the DC iPurifier2 between your existing power supply and your device (laptop, DAC, Streamer, SmartRadio, turntable, HUB, router, guitar pedal, powered speakers, mixer, etc.), and the noise will be reduced by 316 to 100,000 times.  

With version 2 of the DC iPurifier, ANC technology filters noise from 5V up to 24V, 3.5A.

In concrete listening terms, the background of the soundstage is brought closer to the listener, and numerous details (sometimes previously inaudible) deepen the listening experience.

The sound is warmer, smoother, closer to analog listening.

Very wide bandwidth, from 1Hz to over 5GHz.

One of the special features of the DC iPurifier2 is its very wide bandwidth, enabling efficient processing of a very broad spectrum.

Its processing is effective from 1Hz up to – at least – 5GHz, with a clear and strong improvement in the frequencies audible to the human ear from 20Hz to 20KHz.

Reverse polarity protection

Some device manufacturers reverse the polarity of their SMPS switched-mode power supplies, particularly in Audio Pro devices. The power supply is therefore “center negative”.

Thanks to its LED (red), the DC iPurifier2 tells you if the polarity is reversed, and if the adapter (supplied) is needed.

In this case, it’s necessary to use a “positive center” power supply, and then use the “polarity inverter” adapter at the DC iPurifier2 output.

In addition to the new generation of ANC technology, the DC iPurifier2 offers a number of important new features:

• Panasonic SP-Cap Polymer Aluminium capacitors – provide excellent noise reduction, ensure that your device doesn’t overheat, and transmit stable frequencies.
• MELF resistors – lead-free metal electrodes offering excellent precision, stability, load capacity and reliability.
• OP Custom Amps – very low noise and very fast transmission speed.
• New copper-alloy shielding – developed to block electromagnetic interference.
• New aeronautical-grade shielded aluminum chassis – the signal doesn’t pick up new interference once filtered.

Numerous adapters for all applications

Operating from 5V to 24V, and up to 3.5A or 84W, the DC iPurifier2 must be able to power many different devices.

It also comes with multiple adapters, covering all types of “DC” connectors:

• 5.5 x 2.1mm 
• 5.5×2.5mm
• 3.5×1.35mm

It also comes with a polarity inverter, to suit Audio Pro devices with a “negative center”.
