Description

MATRIX MA-1 Class AB power amplifier Stereo 2x450W / Mono 1x900W 4 Ohm

The Matrix MA-1power amplifier is part of the brand’s M series , complemented by the MS-1 streamer and MP-1 preamplifier.
The new range features a new design, both in terms of appearance and internal structure.
This power amplifier is capable of delivering up to 2x450W at 4 ohms and 1x900W at 4 ohms in bridged mode. The amplifier features all the essentials and two 12V triggers.
A switch allows gain to be adjusted to two levels for greater compatibility with different types of preamplifiers and loudspeakers.
In terms of power supply, Matrix has chosen to integrate an independent transformer per channel and numerous capacitors for an extremely reliable and clean power supply.

MATRIX MA-1: a high-performance power amplifier
Matrix’s MA-1 power amplifier uses a Class AB amplification system with a parallel multi-triode push-pull output stage.
10 ONSEMI transistors per channel make up the push-pull amplification circuit and reduce the impedance at the amplifier’s output terminals.
Powerful, the MA-1 delivers up to 2x 450W at 4 Ohm and 1x900W at 4 Ohm in bridged mode.
MATRIX MA-1: gain control
The MA-1 amplifier has two gain settings.
A normal setting is equivalent to +30dB and an attenuation setting to +24dB.
This allows the MA-1 to be coupled with a large number of preamplifiers and loudspeakers available on the market.

MATRIX MA-1: a balanced power supply
The MA-1’s power supply incorporates one transformer per channel for a totally symmetrical design and a total power output of 1250VA.
In addition, there are 14 parallel-connected capacitors per channel, each rated at 6,800uF.
This equates to a total of 190,000uF per channel.
The advantage of using a single capacitor of this power rating is that it limits internal resistance for greater flexibility in handling high currents.

MATRIX MA-1: advanced cooling system
Two sensors located on the main heat sink are connected to the MA-1 microprocessor for continuous evaluation of the device temperature.
So, when the temperature exceeds a certain threshold, a large, silent fan about 18cm in diameter starts up, adjusting its speed dynamically.
