SS-1 Pro is an audio-quality network switch specially designed by Matrix Audio for Hi-Fi audio streaming scenarios.
Unlike traditional network switches, this product is meticulously designed to meet the requirements of high-fidelity audio systems.
It includes comprehensive improvements to the power supply system, clock system, cooling methods and component selection, all geared towards the lossless transmission of high-definition streaming audio.
Higher speed, better performance
Our development of an audio quality network switch with higher speeds stems from a digital circuit design perspective.
A system capable of supporting higher-speed signal transmission will inherently have a higher stability limit.
This also means that synchronization error in high-speed equipment is relatively lower than in low-speed equipment.
As a result, high-speed devices operating at low speeds outperform low-speed devices transmitting at the same speed.
Two isolated 10 Gbps ports
Two SFP/SFP+ ports with connection speeds of up to 10Gbps allow you to install fiber optic or RJ45 modules as required.
This means that upstream network devices and digital audio players can be connected simultaneously via SFP ports, providing complete electrical isolation between network devices and audio equipment via fiber-optic cables.
This prevents high-frequency noise or interference from network devices being transmitted to the audio equipment via the grounding cable.
Independent Ethernet sockets
In addition to multiple Ethernet ports with speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, the SS-1 Pro also features two low-speed ports operating at 100 Mbit/s.

These ports are designed with independent sockets. The wider spacing between sockets helps avoid clutter when using high-end cables.
In addition, we use independent 10Gbps quality Ethernet transformers and fully shielded Ethernet sockets.
Each signal transformer is individually shielded by metal shells, improving resistance to radio frequency interference.
External clock input and RF synthesizer
The clock system is essential for digital circuits, and network switches are no exception.
It can be likened to a series of high-speed switches that have to operate with extreme precision.
In the SS-1 Pro, this system consists of a femtosecond clock and a high-precision RF synthesizer with very low phase noise.
The SS-1 Pro supports two clock modes: In internal clock mode, the internal femtosecond clock serves as a reference for the RF synthesizer, which then generates a highly stable, low-phase noise clock signal for the main controller.
In external clock mode, the 10 MHz clock signal from an external clock serves as a reference for the RF synthesizer. The DPLL then emits a synchronized, highly stable, low phase noise clock signal to the main controller.
Although the SS-1 has a simplified clock system and no RF synthesizer, it still uses a femtosecond clock with very low phase noise as a reference for the main controller, guaranteeing outstanding performance.

The LED status indicators on the Ethernet ports can be disabled by pressing the adjustment knob on the rear panel, ensuring that the LED lights do not interfere with your listening experience in dark or dimly lit environments.

The precision-machined CNC aluminum chassis incorporates Matrix Audio’s new design language.
With a reinforced steel base, the device is solid and stable.
The unit comes with four isolation feet by default, but you can easily replace them with three to suit your setting and placement needs.
