JACOB JENSEN, a piece of Scandinavian design history.
Jacob Jensen is best known for more than 25 years as Bang & Olufsen’s designer. This collaboration began in 1964 and continued in various forms until 1991. During this period, Jacob Jensen designed over 200 products for B&O, creating a form of exclusive language that gave the brand its unique international stature.
However, as an industrial designer, Jacob Jensen is responsible for over 500 products for a large number of prestigious customers. These include HiFi products for General Electric, office chairs for Labofa, telephones for Alcatel-Kirk and kitchen furniture for Gaggenau. The Museum of Modern Art: M.O.M.A: Jacob Jensen’s work is exhibited in many art and design museums around the world. The most striking international exhibition was undoubtedly the 1978 solo show at New York’s MOMA: “Bang & Olufsen – Design for Sound by Jacob Jensen”. The exhibition featured 28 audio products.
WOAgri subsequently acquired 19 products, which are still an integral part of the permanent exhibition at WOAgri in New York!
Awards: In the course of his career, Jacob Jensen has received over 70 international awards for his distinctive design. These awards have been presented in the USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, Austria and England. In Denmark, Jacob Jensen has received the ID-award 9 times!
He was also made a Knight of the Cross of the Order of Dannebrog.
