Connecting an audio device via USB is extremely practical, fast and easy to use, but it also has a few drawbacks… Although perfectly capable of transmitting Hi-Res digital streams and allowing Bit-Perfect, it wasn’t specifically designed to carry music.

USB carries two things at once: Data (your music in digital format) and power (sometimes powering a DAC, or recharging a smartphone, etc.). Unfortunately, it’s prone to interference, and is highly sensitive to electrical noise – especially from your PC’s power supply, which has a negative impact on final audio reproduction.

But don’t panic! The first-generation iSilencer has been surpassed, and the iSilencer+ truly works miracles.

Electrical noise in USB causes packet errors, data loss and poor signal integrity. The result is “pops”, “clicks” and latency.

The iSilencer+ solves all these problems quickly and easily. Simply connect this small USB interface to the output of your computer, in the path from computer to DAC. The iSilencer+ will remove electrical noise, EMI and RFI interference at source.

The result is music that’s more relaxed, clearer, transparent and defined.

The second possible use for the iSilencer+ is as a“plug” for unused USB ports. In this way, the EMI that usually passes through USB ports is blocked. Each addition of an iSilencer+ (and therefore of an ANC2 circuit) increases the efficiency of background noise suppression: 2x iSilencer+, doubled efficiency; 3x iSilencer+, tripled efficiency; and so on.  

The iSilencer+ employs the latest evolution of Active Noise Cancellation II (ANC2). Like noise-canceling headphones (or noise-reduction headphones, depending on the manufacturer), the ANC2 “listens” to the noise coming out of your USB port, creates an identical signal with opposite phase, then superimposes them to purely, simply and totally cancel out the noise heard. The result is a reduction in background noise measured at -40dB.

Next comes REBalance, to eliminate clicks and distortions.

Finally, the integrated circuit has been improved: Tantalum Low-ESR capacitors have been added to improve both input and output filtering. As a result, filtering is 10 times more powerful and efficient than on the iSilencer.

In order to work in all situations, and to be compatible with the maximum number of devices on the market, the iSilencer+ now comes in 3 different finishes:

• USB-C to USB-C
• USB-C to USB-A
• USB-A to USB-A

The iSilencer+ is also USB3.0 SuperSpeed compliant, i.e. 10x the transmission speed of USB2.0. It is, of course, USB2.0 compatible!
