AC-iP-1.jpg

The mains power supply is the very essence of an audio system.

Whether clean or polluted, it has a significant impact on the reproduction quality of any high-fidelity system.

The AC iPurifier is iFi Audio’s latest mains power processor. It’s an active processing device, (going beyond standard mains filters) and cleans up noise and distortion far more effectively, over a very wide frequency range.

The graph below compares the active AC iPurifier (green curve) with generic filters (red line), which are generally passive.

The difference in noise reduction is also quite different during the day and at night (fewer appliances in operation at night, less noise on power lines).

The AC iPURIFIER offers -40dB reduction over a very wide frequency range, whereas a conventional passive filter will only really deal with high frequencies.

Designed to handle ALL electrically-powered audio systems, the AC iPURIFIER will be particularly effective on modern audio systems with a wide range of linear or switch-mode power supplies.

When a power strip is used, the AC iPurifier can also be used to separate the power supplies of digital devices from those of analog devices, further reducing parasitic noise.

Wireless purification System

The wireless purification system (WPS) is a complex circuit that reduces power line noise without audible or measured side effects. This is important because such solutions, while trying to reduce noise, also hinder dynamics. Not so with iPurifier AC, which retains the essence of every inflection that makes music.

Modular Design supress Noise

In many modern audio systems, there is usually a plethora of mains sockets one behind the other, cascading their own unwanted noise additions and polluting the final power supply all the way to the speakers
The design of the AC iPurifier is such that it is even more effective if several are used judiciously to “contain” the problem at source.

You can insert it into the wall socket that powers your system, or insert it into the mains strip powering the audio system.

Here are a few examples of how iPurifier AC fl- filters can be used effectively:

Intelligent grounding

Many AC current cleaners exist that add an extra ground, but only the AC iPurifier has an “intelligent ground”.

An optional 4mm cord is available (sold separately), and will enable you to provide your system with the best possible grounding (if the AC iPurifier detects a lack of ground, it will not create a ground loop).

When it comes to mains power, two common mistakes are usually made. The first is phase placement.

The Intelligent Phase Detection system warns you if you insert your AC iPurifier the wrong way round, thanks to a red LED.

The second error is a lack of grounding.

Whether your system is grounded or ungrounded, simply insert the AC iPurifier and it will tell you how it is.

Generally speaking, if both LEDs are lit, everything is in order!

Surge protection

Last but not least, in the rare event of a power surge (from a mains surge or lightning strike, for example), the AC iPurifier will automatically shut down and stop the electricity flowing through your system. This should protect your valuable and highly sensitive mains equipment from power surges.
