The Audeze LCD-X high-fidelity headphones are an open-back, circumaural model equipped with two planar magnetic drivers. These are mounted in an anodized and polished aluminum housing, with the rear of the driver free to “breathe” through a large black metal grille. American engineers have equipped each driver with a type of waveguide in the form of a finned grille, the Fazor technology, which optimizes the diffusion of sound towards the ears. This results in optimized phase response, a greater extension of the frequency response, smoother sound, and a near-holographic three-dimensional soundstage. On its underside, each earcup features a gold-plated mini-XLR connector for the detachable Y-cable. The large, enveloping, and plush earcups are covered in extremely supple and soft-to-the-touch lambskin leather. The earcup supports are articulated and feature an independent adjustment system at the junction with the headband. This one is fully quilted and covered in black leather.

Two cables are included with these Audeze headphones: one terminated with a 6.35 mm jack connector, the other with an XLR connector, as well as a 6.35 mm to 3.5 mm mini-jack adapter.

The large earcups are ideally positioned around the ears without exerting excessive pressure on the skull. In terms of sound, they deliver the characteristic qualities of orthodynamic headphones, with a warm, extremely detailed, and distortion-free sound. The bass is firm, lively, and full. Vocals are very well-defined, and the treble is exceptionally precise.
