Description
A new addition to the ZEN range, after the HD Bluetooth receiver ZEN BLUEBluetooth receiver, the ZEN DACand the powerful ZEN CANheadphone amplifier, here’s the ZEN PHONO phono pre-amp.
The design is similar: same ovoid shape in anodized aluminum, same compact size, same elegant, refined look.
Connections on the rear panel are equally straightforward: 4.4mm balanced output for XLR connection to powered speakers, for example, RCA stereo output, grounding terminal, RCA stereo input, and mains input.
Going against the grain of entry-level phono preamplifiers, the ZEN PHONO offers first-rate performance:
- MM/MC from 36dB to 72dB gain,
- Background noise reduced to -151dBV
- Balanced output RIAA curve,
- Intelligent subsonic filter to correct distortion without reducing bass,
- Fully balanced circuit to reduce crosstalk and noise,
As with all iFi products, the ZEN PHONO incorporates MURATA and TDK multilayer ceramic capacitors, as well as the famous Panasonic ECPU capacitors. Finally, amplification is provided by iFi’s customary OP AMP OVA2637, for extremely low distortion.
