A buzzing sound? A persistent murmur? Your system may be suffering from a mass loop problem… and iDefender+ is here to cure it!

Is your listening constantly interrupted by a murmur (called “hum”) or a buzz (called “buzz”)?

Using multiple power outlets within your hi-fi system means having multiple grounding/earthing points. These multiple grounding points cause what’s known as a ground loop, which generally creates a succession of noises, buzzes and distortions that interfere with your listening.

This is where iDefender+ comes in, specifically designed to deal with this problem.

Break the loop

Once plugged into your source’s USB port, iDefender+ detects whether your system is suffering from a ground loop problem.

Visit iDefender+ breaks this loop, but in a clever way: it disconnects the Earth coming from the computer (transmitted to other devices via the power supply passing through the USB ports) and eradicates the hiss and buzz audible during a ground loop. But that’s not all! Background noise is considerably reduced, improving dynamics and sound definition.

Is your DAC powered via USB?

If your converter is powered by USB and not by battery or its own AC adapter, the iDefender+ will also come in very handy… It has a USB-C power input on one side, so you can plug in an external power supply! Of course, for reasons of silence and power, we recommend the iPower or iPower X but any other power supply on the market will do.

When a power supply is connected to this USB-C port, the power supply from your source is completely cut off, in favor of the external power supply. This gives your DAC a chance to breathe, and to have its own clean power supply.

The use of a power supply such as the iPower or iPower X has already proved its worth: a low-noise power supply really boosts DAC performance.

The 3 Musketeers

To work in all situations, and to be compatible with as many devices as possible, iDefender+ now comes in 3 different finishes:

• USB-C to USB-C
• USB-C to USB-A
• USB-A to USB-A

Finally, the integrated circuit has been improved: Tantalum Low-ESR capacitors have been added to improve both input and output filtering. As a result, filtering is 10 times more powerful and efficient than on the iDefender.
