As with his Decca recordings of Ballet Music, Fistoulari again delivers a lively reading of Khachaturian's famous ballet piece. Is this performance the equal of the HP acclaimed Mercury - no, ITS BETTER! Add to that earth shattering bass power and spacious detail - especially in ambient high frequency range and you have a winner that is both delightful and revealing to listen to over and over again. Bert Whyte again at the controls for another outstanding EVEREST 35 mm recording at London's famed Walthamstow Assembly Hall - the same hall used extensively by the Decca and Kenneth Wilkinson.

The HDAD PLUS which is a two disc set consisting of a two sided DVD-10 disc containing DVD Audio and DVD Video formats PLUS a bonus CD from a separate 16 bit / 44.1 kHz two channel capture done simultaneously for the CD format to avoid non-integer down sampling and hence provide for maximum quality for the CD all transferred directly from the 35mm magnetic film using a vintage Westrex 1551 tape machine, with specially built playback electronics that are vastly superior to any others used on these machines to playback the original 35mm tapes. The Len Horowitz / History of Recorded Sound specially modified 1551, fitted with brand new playback heads matched to the revolutionary playback electronics was stationed at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. With Len Horowitz running the playback machine and Bernie Grundman mastering from the three track 35mm tapes, Classic Records has been able to capture the legendary sound and performances directly from the 35mm magnetic film through an "ALL TUBE" tape playback system and at 24 bit resolution and 192 kHz sampling rate for use in both the two and three channel presentations included on both the DVD Audio and DVD Video sides of the two sided DVD-10. The level of detail and dynamics on these discs will test the limits of all systems - no matter how much they cost!

Here undoubtedly one of the most famous collections among the labels audiophiles present on this site. Classic Records is one of the rare editors not to have never given up the black vinyl disc since 20 years. Always turned towards the future in spite of its LP specialization Classic Records proposed, during several years, CDs engraved on 24K Gold to currently direct itself towards the DVD multimedia + CD Audio.

Concerning the optical supports, several formats cohabit:

HDAD 24/192 (ref. HDAD2001 at 2011): Engraved on two faces, one with format DVD-V into 24/96 and the other with the format DVD-Audio into 24/192. These discs can be read on any kind of DVD player.

HDAD 24/192 + (ref. HDAD2013 and with beyond): Identical to the precedent on two faces of DVD these version integrate, moreover, one CD with format 16/44 resulting directly from the analogue masters rather than by downsampling of the high-definition data. It is thus a pack of two discs masterized separately.

Concerning the support vinyls, you will find best engravings on discs 180g or 200g. Certain references are published in “Mono double” what corresponds to a voluntary choice on behalf of Classic Records. Indeed a good number of the republished sound recordings were made before democratization of stereophony and our label often proposes two mono tracks identical rather than a mixing in sometimes inaccurate stereophony to the original recording . The versions “double mono” are more the appraisals and most quickly exhausted. By the way do not forget: few specimens are manufactured and the request is growing.
